If your eyes feel dry, gritty, or tired by the end of the day, you already know how frustrating it is to find a drop that actually helps. We're excited to share that Lynn Valley Optometry is one of a select few clinics in Canada carrying Thealoz TOTAL, a new dry eye drop from Théa, as part of its early experience program.

Our patients can pick it up in clinic right now, well ahead of its official public launch this fall.

What Makes Thealoz TOTAL Different

Thealoz TOTAL is designed to do more than just add moisture. It's built to soothe, hydrate, protect, and restore the surface of the eye, all in one preservative-free, phosphate-free formula.

Trehalose

This is a natural sugar that helps protect the cells on the surface of your eye from drying out. Think of it as a shield that helps your eye's cells hold onto moisture, even when your environment (screens, wind, heat, air conditioning) is working against you.

Hyaluronic acid

This ingredient is already well known in dry eye care. It holds onto water and spreads it evenly across the eye, which is what gives you that smooth, lubricated feeling right after a drop.

NAAGA

This is the ingredient that sets Thealoz TOTAL apart. N-Acetyl-Aspartyl Glutamic Acid (NAAGA) has anti-inflammatory properties, meaning it targets one of the root causes of dry eye, not just the dryness itself. Chronic dry eye often comes with low-level inflammation on the surface of the eye, and calming that inflammation is a key part of long-term comfort, not just short-term relief.

Clinically, Thealoz TOTAL has been shown to soothe the eyes immediately after use, reduce redness, and work on inflammation, the root cause of dry eye, rather than just masking the symptoms. It's designed to work for dry eye patients broadly, not just one specific type or severity.

What the Research Shows About Thealoz TOTAL

Thealoz TOTAL was studied in people who wear contact lenses and struggle with dry eye discomfort. The results, published in the scientific journal Vision in December 2025, gave researchers a clear picture of what this drop can do.

The study specifically enrolled patients with moderate to severe dry eye symptoms. Over 34 contact lens wearers used the drop three to six times a day for 36 days. Here's what researchers found:

  • Comfort scores improved significantly, with noticeable relief as early as two weeks in

  • Dryness symptoms dropped sharply, and by the end of the study, nearly two-thirds of patients were back to a normal score

  • Eye redness improved in about 8 out of 10 patients

  • Nearly 8 out of 10 patients said the soothing feeling after using the drop was meaningful to them

  • Side effects were rare and mild. Only one person out of the 34 had a minor, temporary reaction

It's worth noting this was a small study and it wasn't compared against a placebo, but the results add real clinical weight behind the soothing and anti-inflammatory effects the formula is designed to deliver.

Why We're Offering It Early

As part of the Thealoz TOTAL early experience program, we're able to offer you a formula built to target dry eye at its source, and your feedback helps shape it before it reaches everyone else.
